Since 1983, representing Plenty International and/or Plenty Canada, Chuck has worked with indigenous communities, non-profit organizations, women's groups, farming cooperatives, and small business owners in Central America, the Caribbean, Africa, Sri Lanka, North America, and South America to review, develop, secure resources for and implement small-scale community initiatives.

These initiatives addressed basic food production and food processing, health care, water, housing, education, and small business development needs. In many cases, Chuck's duties included introducing and teaching people to use various tools, equipment, communications technologies, and renewable energy systems.

Chuck supervises program development and management for Plenty Austin, and he is a member of Plenty International's Board of Directors. In addition to his duties with Plenty, he is employed by the Austin Resource Center for Independent Living to write and help critique collaborative grant applications, quarterly and annual reports, and also newsletter articles and other communications. Chuck is married to Casta, who is also active in Plenty Austin.
