| WHAT WE BELIEVE
Core to our philosophy is belief in the proposition that every community and person, in this age of unprecedented material and monetary wealth, should have access to food, water, housing, health care, education and opportunities for employment. Practical applications of this belief over the past three years have been realized in the forms of technical and material support for initiatives that improve immediate nutrition intake for undernourished children, and address long term food security, education and employment needs of families. |
WHAT WE DO
Development Work Plenty Austin provides technical and material support for community based efforts to help families living in severe economic poverty improve their health and lives. Many of those requesting assistance are indigenous peoples who’s cultures long predate the countries within which they often struggle to live. We collaborate with local partners to implement sustainable development programs by:
One result is the establishment of home-grown programs that are viable for long-term service to families and communities working to meet the most basic needs of children, and to improve their standards of living. Relief Work Plenty volunteers support disaster relief efforts, helping to organize and deliver, food, medical, clothing and other supplies directly to families with significant needs. Most recently Austin residents worked to bring vital resources to children and adults following a volcano eruption near Guatemala City in 2010, and after multiple devastating hurricanes hit the US Gulf Coast, and the countries of Nicaragua and Guatemala during the past five years. |
OUR DETERMINATION
Plenty Austin is COMMITTED to helping people obtain the resources that they need to implement their good ideas. |
